'Old School' House Music

2004

The year of the 'Monkey'.
ROGUE TRADERS VS INXS- 'ONE OF MY KIND'
Recognised mostly for its video clip with the singing lizard walking around at a dance party, it really is 'my kind' of music. It is derived from the 1987 #1 signature hit by INXS. The Rogue Traders revamped the song and released the single in Australia. It reached #10 on the Australian Top 100 Singles Chart.

ROOM 5 FT. CHEATHAM- 'MAKE LUV'
Oliver Cheatham, under the name 'Room 5', achieved #1 in the UK's Top 40 Charts and the European Dance Charts with this single in 2003. It became popular in Australia the following year (peaking at #34 in 2004). This song is a remix of Cheatham's 1983 hit, 'Get Down Saturday Night'. It was the first made aware through a popular TV advertisement campaign for Lynx Pulse deodorant.

SAFFRON HILL FT. BEN ONONO-'MY LOVE IS ALWAYS THERE'

Released in 2003, however peaking in 2004- This song reached #7 in the Top 20 Charts.

BOOGIE PIMPS- 'SOMEBODY TO LOVE (SALT SHAKER REMIX)'
Slightly annoying, but therefore a song to remember and give recognition to! It is originally sung by 'Jefferson Airplane' and is known for its video clip of the 1/2 naked woman and skydiving babies! This single

JASON NEVINS PRESENTS U.K.N.Y FT. HOLLY JAMES- 'HEAVEN'.

In the past Nevins has topped the charts and scored 2 Top 20 hits with Cypress Hill and N*E*R*D. This song again, did well in the charts in Australia. It is victim to another girl (Holly James) in her swimwear singing and seducing the camera lens for the video clip...Yet I'm sure the boys arent complaining. Still a catchy song and one to remember!

ERIC PRYDZ- 'CALL ON ME'
Performed by Swedish DJ & producer Eric Prydz, this single received HUGE attention both in sales success and topping several charts around the globe. It is partly known for its music video featuring women and a man doing aerobics in a 'sexually suggestive manner.'

FREESTYLERS- 'PUSH UP'
This British electronic music group reached the top 30 in the UK and top 3 in Australia with this single.

SLINKEE MINX-'SUMMER RAIN'
This song was originally written by Robbie Seidman and Maria Vidal in 1989. It is about a husband who leaves his wife saying that nothing will change and that they will be together forever. (1,2,3 nawww).
The track was revamped in 2004 and it reached the top 10 in Australia.

LMX VS U2- 'TAKE ME TO THE CLOUDS ABOVE'

Now this is the largely European and celebrated club hit which has a bit of everything merged in. It is a cover of Whitney Houston's 1985 hit 'How Will I Know' and samples U2's 1987 hit 'With or Without You.' It reached #7 on the Australia ARIA music charts.

ARMAND VAN HELDEN- 'MY MY MY'
This track contains a sample of the song 'Comin' Apart' by Gary Wright. It peaked at #6 on the Australian ARIA music charts.
